Day Reporting Center (DRC)
DRC Work Release and Education Program (WREP): The DRC WREP is a cooperative
program between the Tehama Co Sheriff’s Office and the Probation Department. TCSO’s
WREP is an alternative custody program to assist with jail overcrowding while providing
services and programs to those offenders. These offenders work at a variety of sites, though
the majority are managed through the DRC WREP where Probation staff manage work
crews who provide a labor source to government and non-profit agencies throughout
Tehama County.
•
Community Service: The DRC manages all community service referrals referred through
the Tehama County Superior Court or as referred by probation officers. Participants are
assigned to worksites throughout Tehama County and often work through the DRC
WREP.
•
Clean and sober transitional living: Since 2016, the Probation Department has leased a
local motel and transformed it into a clean and sober transitional living facility. The
facility is able to house up to 36 residents and has been utilized by the Probation
Department, Tehama County Sheriff’s Office, and state parole. Officers from the
Probation Department provide supervision and case management for those living at the
facility. Those living there are required to provide random drug tests, abide by a list of
rules including a curfew, and work through the DRC outside of their required
rehabilitation programming.
•
Bike Shop: The Tehama County Probation Department has operated a bike restoration
program. This program takes donated bikes from the community and restores the bikes
to an operable condition and distributes them back into the community. Many bikes go to
offenders as an incentive to assist in their transport to and from work, school, classes, or
other activities. Other bikes are refurbished for specific programs which distribute bikes
to kids in need around the holiday season.
•
Community Corrections Partnership (CCP): The formation of the CCP was prompted by
the passage of the Public Safety Realignment Act (AB 109). This bill requires each
county that receives funding under the act convene a local Community Corrections
Partnership. The CCP distributes funds to be used for supervision and rehabilitative
services to enhance public safety. The bill requires that the partnership be chaired by the
Chief Probation Officer and include the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, the
County Chief Administrative Officer, the District Attorney, the Public Defender, the
Sheriff, a Police Chief, the County heads of Department of Social Service, Mental
Health, Alcohol and Drug Services, Employment, Office of Education, a representative
from a community-based organization, and an individual who represents the interests of
victims.
